A Note from the Eagle Springs Parks & Playground Committee
Posted on Oct 3rd, 2022
We are also super thrilled to announce that on September 30th , a non-profit company called ‘Project Playground’ came in with a group of volunteers to completely dismantle and carefully take apart all existing equipment, where it will then be shipped it off to Rwanda, where another group of volunteers is waiting to reassemble it for those that can enjoy it for many more years to come!
Here is a little bit of information from Project Playground about where our playground pieces will be going:
“The equipment will go to Rwanda. Due to the 1994 genocide, 47% of the population of Rwanda is under the age of 18. We are working with an organization there that has 3 elementary schools where they feed and educate kids, each school serving 200 kids. The Athletic Club playground will be reconstructed at one of those schools. One school is just outside Reconciliation Village. Reconciliation Village is where perpetrators and victims of the genocide live together as neighbors; an effort of cooperative harmony with one another. We have the shipment tentatively scheduled for January/February. It will be built late spring or early summer. I’ll send a picture once it's up! Thank you for donating your equipment to bless many children!”
Just a few reminders about the playground: this will be an active construction zone with new equipment arriving this week. Crews will be working all day for the next few weeks to get our new playground up and running for us. If you happen to see any tears, rips or any damaged pieces of the orange construction fencing, please reach out to Dana@crest-management.com to let us know so we can have it repaired as soon as possible. We’ve already noticed the temptation to play with the construction fencing is too strong for some so please let us know if you see anything!
