Eagle Scout Helps the Birds of Eagle Springs

Eagle Springs birds have a new home to nest in! As part of his Scouts of America Eagle Scout project, area resident Brandon East recently installed 25 western red cedar bird houses around the Eagle Springs community. The bird houses were installed by the Sports Complex, Splash Pad and Island Pool. The bird houses will help create a safer nesting habitat for the local bird population, including wrens, sparrows, chickadees and other species.
The project was funded by a generous gift of 25 bird house kits from Cedar Works, Inc., located in Greenville, WV, as well as a contribution from the Eagle Springs HOA for other materials and supplies.
Brandon built the bird houses with assistance from members of the Atascocita High School FFA, and installed the bird houses with assistance from other scouts from BSA Troop 9, chartered by First United Methodist Church of Humble. It took two days for the group to build the bird houses, and another day to install them throughout Eagle Springs.
