Park Drainage Projects
Posted on Aug 23rd, 2021
Recently Eagle Springs landscape contractor, Texas Landscape Group, completed the first phase of much needed drainage projects in 4 of our parks and playgrounds. Those 4 parks are Meadow Lake, Windchime Park, Valley Creek Park and Aspen Glen Park.
In Meadow Lake it was determined that additional drains needed to be installed on the North East corner of the park. The landscape committee researched dry creek beds and rain gardens. The dry creek bed will help hold water during heavy rain events and guide the water towards the drains. The second phase in this park will be the addition of rain garden plants that will help absorb the standing water, provide a visual interest and assist in reducing erosion. Below are before and after photos of Meadow Lake.
In Windchime park the drains were constantly being clogged by leaves and soil. The drains in this park and others were cleaned in December 2020. The drain covers were changed out from a flat cover to a dome shaped cover. The dome shape covers help keep leaves from clogging the surface of the drain. In February 2021 Texas Landscape installed large swales of river rock around the drains. The river rock will help catch the leaves and top soil from reaching the drains.
In both Valley Creek and Aspen Glen parks we had standing water under the park benches and on the sidewalks. In Valley Creek the area was regraded and sloped to move the water towards the drains. In Aspen Glenn two drains were added. Below are before and after photos of Valley Creek park.
